How to get started recording lectures

Last Updated: Jan 09, 2014 03:04PM MST
There are two models for recording lectures (Vodcasting).  Laptop & Lecture Theatre podium.

1.  Laptop:  Please contact Academic Technology who will set you up with a Camtasia profile and provide you with training.  You will require a dedicated laptop for vodcasting and an external mic (available at Campus Computer Store).

2.   Lecture Theatre Podium:  You can record your lectures in any of the large classrooms in ECHA (40 seats +) from the lecture podium. Please check with your program to ensure that you receive appropriate support.  Academic Technology's model for supporting vodcasting in classrooms and theatres involves organizing with each program, an AvRep who is responsible for the recording process on location.  This person meets each lecturer, receives their presentation, starts the Camtasia Relay program and the lecture PowerPoint and closes off the process at the end of each lecture.  This process removes the responsibility from the lecturer and ensures that there is one point of contact to ensure success.

Send us an email to actechmd-support@ualberta.ca to inquire about lecture capture -- vodcasting.
